This spicy peanut sauce is super easy to make and goes on just about anything savory. This tutorial gives you the basics to balance the flavours but it’s YOUR sauce so make it mild, make it with seed butter, make it tangy, make it fat-free; it’s up to you.
You’ve seen this sauce before in a couple other videos but I recommend it to people so much that I thought it should have it’s own video. Let me know what you would do with this peanut sauce!

SPICY PEANUT SAUCE RECIPE

Ingredients (US & Metric)
2 tablespoons smooth peanut butter
1 tablespoon Sambel Oelek (garlic chili sauce)
1 teaspoon hoisin sauce
1 teaspoon brown sugar (or other sweetener)
1 clove garlic (optional, especially if using garlic chili sauce)
2 or more tablespoons water/lime juice/rice wine vinegar

Directions
Blend all together until smooth

Notes
Check that your hoisin sauce is vegan-friendly.

The brands of hoisin sauce that I use most is Koon Chun. Lee Kum Kee brand hoisin sauce is also vegan-friendly.

The brand of garlic chili sauce that I use is Huy Fong

PEANUT BUTTER ALTERNATIVES
You can use any seed or nut butter that you enjoy the flavour of. Tahini would most likely be too bitter. Also try using hummus. The texture will not be as thick but you’ll reduce the fat/calories if you’re concerned about that sort of thing.
